You don't have to be an outgoing person to volunteer at McGaughey Library. While we love to have help with the actual classroom visit times, there's also jobs that can be done when the library is not being used, primarily computer work and reshelving.
On a weekly basis we have overdue books that need to have reminders created so they can be sent home, and this involves simply running an online report and filling out a form. All of this can be done when the library is empty and this position therefore has some flexibility in its schedule.
So whether you enjoy the ruckus of a bunch of kids all wanting to check out books, or the quieter jobs of computers and reshelving, we can use you! Reshelving is easy once you learn the system, and while not complicated, there is a lot of bending and reciting of the alphabet song when you are putting up books!
If you would like more information about volunteering, or would like to arrange some training, please contact Amy Grove at the library. She would be happy to explain what's involved and answer any questions you might have about working in the library! She does have a very busy schedule, so you might send an email that she can respond to when she has a spare minute.
